We ran the Great North Run

What an adventure!

It was just getting there, after driving round and following the diversions, we had to get help from the Northumbria Police to get to the hotel as all the roads were closed due to the event. They were amazing!

I spoke to the Chief Inspector, I didn’t know at the time, she was golden and sorted out officers to get us to the hotel as Chloe needed her medicines. It rained from start to finish, we had a 2 ½ mile walk to the start line from the hotel, all up hill, but we made it.

Chloe was wrapped up in her special gear to keep her warm and dry, there was crowds of runners everywhere, loads wished us good luck, what an atmosphere. Chloe kept me going with her little voice saying well done Dad and Everyone to all the other runners, as did the awesome crowds of spectators. We had to stop around the halfway point so I could give Chloe her medicines and a quick snack to keep her going, she was amazing, despite this our time was 2h 10m 17s, an amazing day despite the appalling weather.
